FIVE-STAR TRANSCRIPTIONS
At CTS, we do not charge extra for proofreading because we believe it should always be provided “as standard”.
Once our transcriptionists complete the initial draft transcript, a second linguist will proofread it for typos and inaudibles. The proofreading step increases our time on the project, but it provides the client with an extra layer of quality assurance. We charge extra for timestamps, speaker IDs, and urgent delivery. We may also charge extra for unclear audio.

Eliminating [inaudibles]
At CTS, we believe it is not our client’s responsibility to deal with parts of the audio that are difficult to hear. However, if we have exhausted all our options, we will, unfortunately, need to use the ugly [inaudible] tag. We may also use [word] to let the client know that we have made an intelligent guess and require special attention.
Things we can do to eliminate inaudibles include slowing down the audio, doing research on Google, and using specialist software to remove background noise. It is fair to say that we don’t give up easily.
The factors which may cause us to use square brackets include poor-quality audio, noisy background, overlapping speakers, and specialist terminology.
